Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Attending to customs, port and immigration formalities on behalf of the vessel.
  • Keeping principals and suppliers updated on the progress of the vessel.
  • Formulate estimated disbursements and finalise the disbursement after the departure of vessels.
  • General ships husbandry requirements such as hotel and transport bookings for crew changes and coordinating the supply / delivery of the necessary stores and provisions for vessels.
  • Ensuring a smooth turnaround of vessels and reporting on cargo operations.
  • Assisting with following up on invoices from suppliers and service providers.
  • Ensuring all relevant requirements are met such as ISPS clearance and Free Pratique.
  • Comply with ISO standards and certification.
  • Comply with local and international maritime regulations and port safety protocols.
  • Working outside regular hours to accommodate the schedules of vessels arriving at the port.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

We invite applications from candidates who meet the following minimum criteria:

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum 3 years practical experience or relevant exposure.
  • Relevant industry-related training and / or a relevant course in the maritime field preferable.
  • ICS Qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Experience in most or all of the following vessel types / callers – Off port limits, bunkers, tankers, general cargo, breakbulk and drybulk.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Good attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Works according to standard operating procedures.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours.
  • Can-do attitude and growth mindset.
  • Computer literacy – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Requires suitable own vehicle.
  • Valid driver’s licence essential.
